Fact: I need a daily kick of inspiration.
I usually get inspiration from my favorite books, or social media like pinterest, tumblr and even instagram. To be honest though the place I feel really inspired, and extremely comfortable is my cozy home. Good conversation is cultivated here, and often that conversation is sparked by different arrangements of frames on the wall; or DIY projects like our handmade dinning table, etc. These home decorations tell a story about the Apples—our little family and what we like.
I believe this is how you make your home cozy and refreshing. Surround yourself with the style that you love; and to be honest only you know what that style is.
Your home should be the best place to be. Your number one place to escape. I mean sure, sometimes it’s good to get out of town, but your home should be a safe haven—that place where you can kick up your feet and relax. Keep it clean and uncluttered, but most of all adding your personal style is how to make your home aesthetically pleasing.
I’ve been told countless times, “I can’t do that, I’m not creative.” Statements like this make me sad every time. You are creative. And do you know what is even better? —> you have your own personal style, and it’s a great style. It’s simple to translate your personal style into your home, in fact it is so simple you may not believe me when I tell you the secret…
There is one necessary personal item you need. You can’t buy it, it has to be created by yourself:
In the end, that is all you need. A little boost of confidence and you’re well on your way to a beautifully decorated home. Don’t second guess what you like. If you like patterns, then my goodness add them to your home. If you like bright neon colors, incorporate them into your decorations. If you like antiques, then go to your local flea market and decorate your home with history. Use your imagination and believe me you will be happy every time you come home.
I’m beginning a new mini series titled No Place Like Home. My inspiration for this series is you. It is so often that I hear statements like I mentioned above that I want to encourage you if you feel this way too. Friday I’m going to talk about a technique I use all the time. It’s simple and free. If you do it, I promise you will feel more at home… in your home.
